Windows 11 Upgrade Western Sydney — Should You Upgrade?

By Ragu — TechFix Pro·June 2026·6 min read
Windows 10 reached end of life in October 2025, meaning no more security updates. If you are still running Windows 10 on your Western Sydney home or business computer, here is what you need to know about upgrading to Windows 11 in 2026.

Why Windows 10 end of life matters

Microsoft ended security updates for Windows 10 on 14 October 2025. This means any computer still running Windows 10 is no longer receiving patches for new security vulnerabilities. For home users, this means increased risk of malware and ransomware. For businesses, it may mean compliance issues depending on your industry.

The good news is that most computers purchased in 2018 or later can be upgraded to Windows 11 for free. TechFix Pro helps Western Sydney homes and businesses assess compatibility and perform the upgrade safely with all data and programs intact.

Can my computer run Windows 11?

Windows 11 has stricter hardware requirements than Windows 10. The main requirements are:

  • TPM 2.0

Most computers built after 2016 have this. It must be enabled in BIOS — TechFix Pro can check and enable this for you.

  • 64-bit processor, 1GHz or faster

Almost all modern processors meet this requirement.

  • 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended)

Computers with only 4GB RAM will run Windows 11 slowly — we can upgrade RAM at the same time.

  • 64GB storage

An SSD upgrade is often recommended at the same time as a Windows 11 upgrade for best performance.

Should you upgrade or buy a new computer?

This depends on the age and condition of your computer. As a general guide:

Computer ageRecommendation
Built 2019 or laterUpgrade to Windows 11 — free, quick, retains all your programs and files.
Built 2016–2018Upgrade if TPM 2.0 present. Consider adding RAM or SSD at the same time.
Built before 2016Likely incompatible with Windows 11. Assess whether a new computer is better value.
